There are two things I find myself talking about much of the time. The first is the Kingdom of God and the other is its people. I’ve long been fascinated with governing and the concept of governing. I am fascinated by how we govern, why we govern, and what this concept of governing looks like for the every day person in the Kingdom of God.
Too often when people think of governing, we think of government. But that is not entirely what I’m talking about. I’m thinking more about our own sphere of influence. It’s that realm where you and I make decisions and form a community of decision makers.
The other thing I’ve found myself more recently fascinated by is art. I’ve always had a quiet little place for art and beauty in my mind’s eye, but I long let it evaporate into vapor. I’ve recently felt rather “pushed” if you will, back into that love of illustration, story telling, and beauty. When I put all of this together - art, governing, and people - The Cultural Ayin was born.
The Cultural Ayin is a bit of a peculiar name and honestly, my text logo is the symbolic version of what I do and what I love. It is my particular Kingdom niche of equipping, empowering, and encouraging. The word "ayin" is Hebrew for "eye." Literally read, this is "The Cultural Eye." More specifically, it's a website with an eye for Kingdom culture so it’s learning to see with God’s eye and learning to live by His eyesight.
I don’t know about you, but I am a visual person. I find a good visual can help me synthesize relevant data. Playing with symbols and parables is also fun. I’ve noticed God uses those sorts of things to communicate. As a result, I actually rely on art and an art anointing as part of the process of discovery within The Cultural Ayin. I rely on art as prophetic vision and I research around that vision. Zayin Hope is my cultural picture making enterprise and I dialogue and blog about it as much as I do about the other “stuff” on this website. As a result, I try to have shifting galleries as I create and learn. For the most part, much of what can be found here either has a blog or is awaiting a blog article. Most of the writing is meant to be linked to some more extensive writing in the written portfolio section.
I think much of what I do is much like peeping into the keyhole of the kingdom waiting to be let inside. I can’t say anyone is asking me for a password. But, I want to know some things. How about you? As we all “press in” and persevere, God is always faithful to give seekers answers. I believe in this hour, He is wanting to be found.
